๐Ÿ“ Sweet Moments: Strawberry Picking on the Allotment

One of the simplest and most joyful parts of our time on the allotment has been watching the kids pick strawberries straight from the plants โ€” a little ritual thatโ€™s become part of every visit.

No matter what jobs weโ€™re tackling โ€” planting, watering, weeding โ€” the moment the work wraps up, the kids always ask the same thing:
โ€œCan we pick the strawberries now?โ€

And of course, the answer is always yes.

The strawberries have been incredibly productive this season, producing bowlfuls of sweet, sun-ripened fruit. But itโ€™s not just about the harvest โ€” itโ€™s the smiles, the sticky fingers, and those quiet, shared moments that make it feel so special.

๐Ÿ“ A Family Tradition in the Making
Weโ€™ve come to treasure this little end-of-session routine โ€” a simple reward after a bit of hard work, and a lovely way to keep the allotment feeling like a family space, not just a growing space. Itโ€™s these memories โ€” hands reaching through leaves, that first bite into a still-warm berry โ€” that weโ€™ll look back on fondly for years to come.

Whether itโ€™s a quick snack or a mini strawberry hunt, this has become one of our favourite parts of allotment life.
