About Garden Hues
At Garden Hues, we’re more than a gardening company — we’re a growing movement dedicated to nurturing people, skills and green spaces. Our mission is to create beautiful, sustainable gardens while building a team of passionate individuals who share our love for nature and hands-on learning.
Founded by Nic and Matt, Garden Hues started as a vision to teach and inspire through practical gardening knowledge. Over time, it’s blossomed into something bigger — a thriving team that’s out transforming gardens across our community, while still sharing our journey online through videos, tips and seasonal insights.
We’re now expanding — taking on more clients and training new team members to grow alongside us. By combining professional garden care with personal development, we’re helping people not only improve their outdoor spaces but also discover the joy, confidence and purpose that come from working with nature.
We believe in “Growing Beyond Limits” — in gardens, in business, and in life. Through our services, handcrafted creations, and upcoming workshops, we aim to make gardening accessible, meaningful and rewarding for everyone.
Whether you’re looking for expert garden maintenance, a complete transformation, or an opportunity to learn and grow within a supportive team — Garden Hues is here to help you flourish.
Ready to grow with us? Let’s bring your garden — and your potential — to life.
The creative team behind Garden Hues
Nic
Co-Founder & Director
I began gardening in my early twenties, and over the years, my passion for nature and the outdoors has only grown. With over 18 years of experience, I’ve worked in everything from hedge cutting to landscaping, always with an eye for design, structure and accessibility. I love creating outdoor spaces that feel both beautiful and welcoming. I have extensive experience working with individuals with disabilities and believe gardens should be enjoyed by everyone. I’m honoured to be part of a great team and excited to see what garden hues can give to people.
Gary
Non-Executive & Chair
I began supporting Garden Hues as a Consultant, helping shape the direction and plans for the future, and I’m proud to now step in as Chairman. I’ve always been driven by a passion for helping people reach their potential. In 2012 I founded Proud To Care in Sheffield, which went on to win a national start-up award. Building strong teams grounded in compassion has always mattered to me and I’m excited to bring that same commitment to Garden Hues as we grow.
I’m a RHS Level 3 qualified gardener and tree surgeon with over 12 years of full-time experience. My passion for gardening started as a child on my parents’ allotment and grew through weekend work in gardens and a local garden centre. Early in my career, I worked with people with learning disabilities and the disabled, producing compost for sale to the local community — an experience that shaped my approach to gardening and people. I’m always expanding my knowledge in arboriculture and proud to be co-founder of Garden Hues.
Kay
Gardener
I run Poppies Gardening Services with a team of self-employed gardeners. Two of them, Nic and Matt, are starting Garden Hues. While I’m not part of the project, I’m glad to support them with advice. My gardening journey began in my 20s and grew through community projects including setting up 40 strip gardens and winning ‘Gold’ in Sheffield in Bloom. Now RHS Level 3 qualified, I lead gardening groups in a local care home and have a growing interest in dementia-friendly gardening and mental health support.
Adrian
Assistant gardener
By day, I work as an assistant gardener and labourer, teaming up with a skilled crew to bring outdoor spaces to life. It’s tough, hands-on work, but I genuinely enjoy being outdoors, staying active, and seeing the transformation of each project. Gardening keeps me grounded and connected to nature. But my true passion lies in music. Whether I’m out in the garden or at home writing a new track, I’m always chasing creativity in one form or another—it’s what drives me every day.

Kerry
Gardener & Occupational Therapist
I am a fully qualified Occupational Therapist with a passion for combining health and nature. Currently working in horticulture, my goal is to create community therapeutic gardening clubs that support well-being and encourage connection through nature. I love spending time at the allotment with my family, where I teach my children the value of being outdoors and growing together. Through my work, I hope to inspire others to experience the physical, mental and social benefits of gardening.
