Aimee

Gardener
From a young age I’ve loved the freedom and tranquility of the outdoors and on family holidays love walking our dogs in Wales, Northumberland and North Yorkshire, along beautiful beaches, coastlines, and countryside.

I’ve always been surrounded by dogs growing up, and I love animals and the unconditional love they give, especially my rescue dog, Ted.

My first full-time job was at a garden centre, where my passion for horticulture grew. After a few years, I wanted a more hands-on experience and began an NVQ Level 2 apprenticeship in Horticulture with a grounds maintenance company. I gained a wide range of skills, from mowing private gardens and large football fields, to planting tubs and commercial landscapes, to helping with clearance work along the River Don.

I love visiting gardens like Chatsworth, and wherever I go I’m always taking in ideas, inspired by the beauty and diversity each garden offers. I’m not one for shopping, but when it comes to plants I get genuinely excited, especially when rescuing discounted plants or houseplants and nurturing them back to full health. Watching something bloom again, an orchid reflowering, is incredibly rewarding. The variety and transformation gardening brings season by season is just beautiful.

I’m truly excited to begin this new chapter with the incredible team at Garden Hues and to continue developing my knowledge, skills, and passion for horticulture along the way.
